When I was out in Darwin,I was told of a pub/hotel where they had a beer drinking contest-a local farmer called one day asking if anything could take part. He brought his prize bull in and it won every time.He was a real hit with the locals packing it out every time but the farmer had to call time on it as all this beer was affecting the bulls' 'bedroom abilities' He was limited to the occasional 'guest appearance' I believe there was some truth in the story as I heard a radio announcement on the day I left saying "Come on down to the Kallamunda hotel (or similar) on Wednesday night 'cos the bull will be there !!"

There was a pub along the old a13 route...the Denham? Something like that. Had loads of farm animals in the back garden. This was early 80s.

I remember the bear! I had forgotten all about that!
Probably around late 70's? Can you imagine a pub having a live, caged bear being taunted by pissed up loonies all day now?!
Noak Hill wasn't it?
